The fount of life is the ability to produce life-force energy. It allows the energy produced and absorbed by living beings to give life to other cells. All living beings possess this ability, most to a limited degree.
Those with rapid healing such as Vince can absorb life-force energy produce and give life to cells allowing for near limitless regeneration, but are not quite as powerful, or efficient as Nobles.
Vampires through drinking blood seem to possess the ability to produce a near limitless supply of lifeforce energy giving them immortality and Vampire Resurrection capability.
D, the Sacred Ancestor, Valcua Two, The Ultimate Noble, Duke Gilzen and Gods, seem to have the ability to sever the fount of life.

Weapons like Glencalibur, The Sacred Ancestor's Sword, Blue Blood, Sword of God, Sword of Alucard, Golden Scepter, and many others can also sever the fount of life.
Left Hand, Gods, Grand Duke Dorleac, necromancers, seem to be able to create and manipulate it on a grand scale and can even devour souls or feed off sacrifices of souls to them giving them added powers and abilities.
